How To Get Into Ketosis Fast
I like to go in and out of ketosis from time to time to burn some extra body fat and improve my health.
Here is a definition of what ketosis is from web MD: Ketosis is a process that happens when your body doesn’t have enough carbohydrates to burn for energy. Instead, it burns fat and makes things called ketones, which it can use for fuel.
Most people have to keep their carbs very low to get into ketosis, below 50 grams per day. But I can get into a mild state of ketosis eating more carbs because I’m so active and I intermittent fast all the time. Fasting not only burns fat but also depletes your glycogen stores (carbohydrates) and can put you in a state of ketosis.
If you want to get into a ketosis state, start by gradually reducing carbs to about 50 g or less per day. Try to illuminate all fructose from your diet. Fructose is processed in the liver and can keep you out of ketosis, similar to alcohol. Ensure you’re eating enough healthy fats and eating an adequate amount of protein but not too much. I recommend about .9 g of protein per pound of lean body weight.
